The respiratory programme was expanded to include hospital-acquired infections in 2010/11.

Data for all of the community-acquired organisms and most of the hospital-acquired organisms is now available. The remainder will be added soon.

HOSPITAL AND COMMUNITY ISOLATES

Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis are collected from community-acquired respiratory tract infections i.e. from patients in the community or in hospital for less than 48 hours.

Enterobacteriaceae (E. coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter), Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter are collected from hospital-acquired infections, 48 hours or more after hospital admission.
